Job summary

IU Health seeks a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to assist the registered nurse and care team in delivering direct patient care. The PCA helps with activities of daily living, mobility, and maintaining a safe, clean environment while closely observing patients.

Applicants must hold current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or complete the IU Health PCA education program, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification (AHA) or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.

Responsibilities

• Provides activities of daily living and mobility assistance.
• Maintains clean and orderly patient surroundings.
• Performs continuous observation including suicide prevention as directed.
• Supports patient care team under RN supervision.
