Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA is seeking a Patient Care Assistant Trainee for the 4 Acute Orthopedics & Neurosurgery unit. This role supports direct and indirect patient care during the night shift and collaborates with registered nurses to meet patient needs in a 48-bed unit.

Responsibilities include prioritizing patient care, communicating with nursing staff about patient status, and contributing to a team effort that aims to achieve patient and family goals.

Minimum Hourly Rate:$18.56

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care. Maintain awareness of patient population needs and scheduling requirements, provide ongoing communication with nursing staff for assigned patients, and prioritize patient care in conjunction with other team members consistently. Assist the team in meeting patient and family goals. Supervision and direction is provided by the Registered Nurse.

In this 48-bed acute care unit, we care for patients of various medical and surgical specialties, including the neurosciences, orthopedics, otolaryngology and reconstructive surgery. The unit also includes four state-of-the-art epilepsy monitoring beds. Special training and competencies are awarded in trauma, stroke and epilepsy care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
