Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA is hiring a Patient Care Assistant for the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit.

This full-time 0.90 FTE night-shift role supports direct and indirect patient care from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, with a $2.50/hour night differential and CNA certification required. Under RN supervision, you’ll communicate with nursing staff, help meet patient and family goals, and participate in an interdisciplinary team in a 31-bed unit treating stroke, brain

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Essential member of the health care team responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care. Maintain awareness of patient population needs and scheduling requirements, provide ongoing communication with nursing staff for assigned patients, and prioritize patient care in conjunction with other team members consistently. Assist the team in meeting patient and family goals. Supervision and direction is provided by the Registered Nurse.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

With 31 beds, the critical care unit serves neurology and neurosurgery patients receiving treatment for strokes, brain tumors, head traumas, seizures, neuro-oncology, advanced neurological monitoring and other neuromuscular disorders.

All Patient Care Assistants (PCA) receive an additional $1.00/hour for their PA Certified Nursing Assistant certification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Three (3) months of patient care related experience preferred.
