Job summary

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide basic patient care in the Same Day Surgery unit under the supervision of an Registered Nurse. The role supports admissions, transfers, discharges, and age-appropriate care, while ensuring patient safety and sanitation.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, current BLS certification, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of work experience preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant program completion preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic nursing care to Same Day Surgery patients within the Nursing Assistant scope of practice.
• Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
• Communicates any observed changes in patient status to the RN.
• Provides explanations to patients and families prior to care and answers questions within scope of practice.
• Assists physicians with procedures under the direction of an RN.
• Coordinates and supervises patient care under direct supervision of an RN.
• Maintains medical and surgical asepsis during treatments and procedures.
