Job summary

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health is seeking a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) for the Same Day Surgery unit. The position offers 5x8, 4x10, or 3x12 hour shifts with daytime hours, supporting RN staff in delivering patient care and comfort.

The LNA will perform ADLs, collect vital signs, and assist in medication storage and handling under policy. Prior hospital experience is preferred, with BLS required on hire.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Must demonstrate keyboarding skills and be familiar with computer use.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including ADLs, vitals, and specimen collection.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment; manage equipment and linen as needed.
• Greet visitors and answer phones; support new staff orientation within the department.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervision.

Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)

Same Day Surgery

Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care duties. Possesses direct access to drug products and secure medication locations in order to manage the storage, handling and disposal of medications consistent with the Medication Storage and Handling Policy.

Responsibilities

• Assists with routine patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including, but not be limited to, performing ADL’s, obtaining clinical data, including vital signs, heights and weights, utilizing universal precautions, collecting specimens or performing point of care testing and recording results in medical record, etc.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment by keeping the hallways clear of excess equipment, emptying linen bags when full, etc.
• Assists visitors and answer telephones.
• Assists new co-workers in learning the work of the department.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of NH required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
