Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to work with registered nurses and healthcare professionals in caring for hospitalized patients. Through structured training you will develop the knowledge and skills to provide safe, compassionate patient care and support daily living activities.

The role requires 18+ years old, English proficiency, and CNA-like preparation. Training is provided, with multiple campuses and shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Ability to read, write, communicate, and understand English.
• Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred.
• Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, nutrition support, and comfort needs.
• Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, and other patient information in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Support a safe patient care environment through adherence to established safety practices and protocols.
• Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team to support care delivery.
