Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Medical Assistant to join its Pittsburgh clinical team. Under supervision, you will support examination, treatment planning and care coordination, prepare patients, document vitals and history, and assist with procedures.

The role requires completing a medical assistant program, valid CMA/RMA/AMT etc., CPR, and background checks. You will work with the care team, use the EHR for documentation, and help maintain clinic readiness and patient communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of a medical assistant program is necessary.
• Certification as Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA) required or within 120 days of hire.
• CPR certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Background and child/adult abuse clearances and FBI fingerprinting as per policy.
• HIPAA training and compliance with privacy policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating patient exams and care under supervision.
• Prepare and room patients in clinical practice according to workflows.
• Document vitals, patient history, tobacco and medication screening.
• Assist with depression screening tools if applicable.
• Complete wellness visit screenings and update medication lists in EHR.
• Perform back-office testing and assist with examinations and procedures.
• May act as a scribe with training and follow up with patients as directed.
• Maintain exam rooms and inventory of medical supplies; ensure sterilization.
• Enter data accurately in EHR and perform clerical duties.
