Job summary

UVM Health Network - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital seeks a Clinical Assistant to support patient care on Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care units. Under the RN, you will take vital signs, assist with tests, and collect samples while ensuring accurate documentation and teamwork.

Responsibilities include front-desk patient interactions, coordinating with physicians and hospital staff, and maintaining a friendly, efficient unit environment. AHA-BLS is required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; reads, writes and understands medical terminology.
• Experience as nurse aide or completion of nurse aide training or PLA competency program.
• AHA-BLS certification required within 6 months of hire or current non-AHA-BLS honored to renewal date.
• Ability to perform Heimlich Maneuver when needed.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with patients, staff and visitors.
• Proficient computer skills and ability to complete documentation accurately.
• Commitment to CVPH education requirements and pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: assists RNs to provide responsive, service-oriented patient care.
• Testing: conducts tests and specimen collection as directed by the RN.
• Clerical: serves as front door to the unit with strong customer service and clerical support.
