Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Clinical Assistant in the Resource Float team to support Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care units at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. Under RN supervision, you will take vital signs, collect specimens, assist patients with daily living activities, and ensure accurate documentation.

You will join a team focused on timely communication, patient comfort, and collaborative care in a computerized medical setting while supporting multiple

Qualifications

• High school grad or equivalent with ability to read, write, and understand medical terminology.
• Previous nurse aide experience or completed nurse aide training or other relevant clinical experience that required ambulating, bathing and feeding of patients.
• If no CNA certificate, must be able to show competence prior to starting.
• Willingness to use positive communication while performing job duties.
• Ability to perform detailed assignments, work under pressure, and relate to patients, hospital staff, physicians, and visitors.
• Ability to use basic computer skills.
• Willingness to attend CVPH education requirements satisfactorily.
• Meets requirement for pre-employment screening and physical exam.
• Competency to perform CPR and Heimlich Maneuver.
• Ability to work independently, handle interruptions, take direction and prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: works under RN’s to provide responsive, service oriented patient care
• Testing: conducts various patient tests and specimen collection as directed by RN
• Clerical: functions as the “front door” to the unit providing customer service oriented communication and clerical support.
