Job summary

Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, TX seeks a part-time Monitor Technician with patient-care responsibilities for night shifts. The role supports Emergency Services by assisting patients with daily activities, recording vital signs, and reporting changes to nurses under RN direction.

Candidates should have current patient-care certification, basic life support, and relevant experience in acute care or physician offices.

Qualifications

• Current Certification in Patient Care (e.g., CNA/EMT) preferred.
• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certification preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Six months experience as Monitor Technician preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• EKG certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months experience in acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Help with mobility, including turning, repositioning, transferring, and feeding with monitoring intake/output.
• Take and record vital signs and observe/ report changes to nurses; assist with wound care under RN direction.
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms; keep environment clean and safe.
• Assist in transporting patients within the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Help with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring patients to prevent skin breakdown, you may also feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake/output
• Take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration), observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses, you may also help with wound care under the direction of an RN
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms, ensure the environment stays clean and safe
• Assist in transporting patients within the hospital

Qualifications

• Current Certification in Patient Care required (M.A. / CNA / EMT / Paramedic / Patient Care Tech, etc.).
• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
• Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician, preferred.
• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office, preferred.
