Float Pool Overview

The nursing Float Pool at Parkwest consists of nurses, patient care assistants, and health unit coordinators trained to staff various hospital units, including Oncology, Post Surgical, Orthopedic-Neuro, and more. The team supports staffing needs across all units to adapt to patient census fluctuations.

Position Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs and measurements.
• Encourage and assist patients with mobility and respiratory exercises.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including feeding and personal hygiene.
• Manage patient environment and safety, including equipment and supplies.
• Provide supportive care such as positioning, assisting with devices, and specimen collection.
• Perform additional tasks like phlebotomy and EKG with proper training.
• Respond promptly to patient needs and report changes to RN.
• Adhere to infection control policies and document care appropriately.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred; no prior experience required. CPR certification is required.
