Snoqualmie Valley Health is seeking a Patient Account Representative in the Billing department. This role manages self-pay accounts, provides financial guidance to patients, and coordinates with Medicaid and financial aid programs to reduce bad debt.

Responsibilities include handling patient inquiries, posting payments, and preparing accounts for collection if needed. The position emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and customer-focused service in a community hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Required education: High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years related experience and/or training, including customer service; or equivalent.
• Preferred: Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance reimbursement rules; EPIC familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with patients and insurers over the phone in a professional manner.
• Manage and maintain accurate self-pay accounts.
• Respond to patient inquiries, disputes, and complaints regarding self-pay accounts.
• Document, post, and report payment information.
• Guide patients on self-pay options and financial assistance programs.
• Contact patients with overdue balances via phone or letter.
• Prepare accounts 120 days past due for submission to collection agencies.
• Manage self-pay credits and refunds.
• Review insurance explanations of benefits (EOB).
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Develop strategies to improve self-pay collections and reduce delinquency.
• Process financial aid applications.
• Collaborate with departments to resolve outstanding self-pay accounts.
