Job summary

Unified Women’s Healthcare seeks a Patient Collection Specialist to assist patients with billing questions, verify balances, and ensure policy compliance. Qualifications

• Associates degree from an accredited university preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years customer service experience.
• Knowledge of insurance processes, and local, state, and federal requirements.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational, problem solving and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and issues effectively and simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Communication with patients or guarantors by telephone to secure payment of outstanding balances and verify demographic information.
• Facilitating patient balance worklists through proactive calls and outreach campaigns.
• Recording payment information for processing.
• Notating in EMR all patient communications pertaining to account inquiries.
• Creating and monitoring payment plans per financial policies.
• Managing returned mail and bankruptcy notices per policies.
• Assisting patients with balance questions, plan options, and applications for assistance.
• Researching EOBs and statements to aid balance collection as needed.
• Reporting on cumulative patient balances in Excel.
• Communicating with Practice Management about balance adjustments or issues.
• Working with third‑party collections agencies to adjust balances as needed.
• Initiating and processing patient refund requests per internal policies.
