Job summary

Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Account Representative to manage billing and follow-up of claims with insurance payors, governmental payors, and state agencies. The role supports accurate billing, timely submissions, and patient/carrier communications.

You will collaborate with precert staff, prepare daily productivity reports, and ensure adherence to payer guidelines and CMS regulations while delivering excellent customer service to patients and employers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years in a structured business environment required.
• 2–3 years in hospital, physician office or insurance environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes and follow ups on claims for payment to insurance payors, governmental payors and state agencies.
• Prepares billing and follow ups on claims to ensure timely submission.
• Documents and revises information as needed before claims submission.
• Coordinates with precertification staff on requirements.
• Generates daily productivity reports.
• Acts as liaison between patient, employer, and carrier to resolve claim issues.
• Responds to patient inquiries within 24 hours.
• Maintains awareness of payer guidelines and CMS regulations.
