Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach is seeking a Patient Account Representative or Billing Customer Service professional. This hybrid role requires commuting to the Miami Beach hospital with remote work after 4-6 weeks of training.

You will manage patient inquiries, update accounts, and ensure timely documentation while adhering to HIPAA, COBRA, EMTALA, and other compliance standards. The ideal candidate communicates effectively in English and Spanish, with at least one year in healthcare

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Experience: 1 year in healthcare Patient Accounts Services or Customer Service by phone.
• Languages: English or Spanish strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Reviews each account when handling calls, relays accurate information to the patient, explains account details.
• Works correspondence in HPF timely and documents patient accounting system within three business days.
• Informs patient of self-pay balances and establishes payment arrangements per policy.
• Verifies information following HIPAA before release of information with every call or visit.
• Maintains knowledge of collection guidelines, HIPAA, COBRA and EMTALA.
• Monitors call volume and aims to answer all calls promptly and courteously.
• Processes requests for bills and insurance updates and credit card payments.
• Follows up with patient/guarantor issues and relays information back.
