Job summary

Upper Great Lakes Family Health seeks a Patient Account Assistant to post payments and adjustments to patient accounts and perform limited reporting and balancing of daily transactions.

Responsibilities include posting payments and adjustments, monitoring reimbursements, and assisting with Care Management claim submissions within a community-based medical, dental, and behavioral health care setting.

Qualifications

• Proficient preparing correspondence and simple reports using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and/or CPT/ICD-10 coding.
• Experience in healthcare billing, preferred.
• Experience utilizing an electronic health record system, preferred.
• Basic level of written and verbal communication skills, computational and computer skills and mathematical knowledge typically acquired through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Posts insurance and patient payments including contractual and non-contractual adjustments, refunds, voids and recoupment transactions.
• Posts appropriate adjustments as required according to terms of insurance contracts.
• Monitors reimbursements for underpayments and remittances with zero payments and notifies the AR team to resolve.
• Assists with Care Management claim submissions.
