Patient Attendant - Allegheny General Hospital - Part Time

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job supports the professional nurse by observing the patient and ensuring a safe environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Perform activities related to patient care, such as accompanying patients to tests, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and providing diversional activities. (40%)
2. Provide observation to maintain patient safety by intervening physically and communicating the need for additional assistance. (30%)
3. Communicate pertinent patient data effectively and promptly. (10%)
4. Document patient behavior/activity according to policy (medical or behavioral health needs). (10%)
5. Take responsibility for personal educational development. (10%)
6. Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

• High school diploma or GED
• CPR certification (American Heart Association) and Crisis Management training (provided during orientation) if not already certified
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance

Preferred:

• Previous healthcare experience
