Job summary

Ascension Saint Joseph in Chicago, IL is seeking a Behavioral Health Sitter for a full-time day shift (7:00 am - 7:30 pm). The role focuses on patient bedside supervision, calming/agitation support, and maintaining a safe environment while accurately recording observations.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or equivalent, and may have preference for BLS CPI certifications and prior hospital exposure.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent or 1 year of applicable job-specific experience required.
• Preferred BLS Provider certification and CPI certification.

Responsibilities

• Remains at bedside of assigned patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
• Assists in calming and/or reorienting patient in cases of agitation or confusion.
• Removes visible hazards and/or broken equipment from immediate environment and reports as appropriate.
• Records all observations.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • None Required.
• Preferred Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Crisis Prevention credentialed from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
