Job summary

Ascension in Chicago, IL, seeks a Nurse Aide to support an Adult Psychiatry Unit. You will assist with daily living activities, deliver or support direct patient care and diagnostic procedures, and observe patient progress while documenting changes to help guide treatment plans.

You will establish therapeutic rapport with patients and participate in care as a team on day shift, full-time, in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must have BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred CPI Crisis Prevention certification.
• Nurse Aide credential from Illinois Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Provides or assists with direct patient care, diagnostics, and therapies.
• Observes and records patient behavior; reports changes and suggests treatment adjustments.
• Establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.

• Observes and records patient behavior and activities. Reports any changes in condition and suggests modifications to the treatment plan.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Preferred Credential(s):
• Certification specializing in Crisis Prevention credentialed from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
• Nurse Aide credentialed from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
