Job summary

Chadron Community Hospital, Corp. is seeking an admissions clerk to interact with patients and the public in a friendly, professional manner.

You will ensure accurate admissions through up-to-date insurance, demographics and information to support a positive patient experience. The role includes covering weekend shifts, coordinating with other departments, preparing admission packets, scheduling for departments, and guiding patients through financial arrangements and pre-registration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Admissions experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cover absences and rotate weekends.
• Consult with departments for interdisciplinary patient care.
• Maintain forms, supplies, charts and admission packets.
• Prepare doctor on-call schedule for departments.
• Refer patients to business office for financial arrangements.
• Pre-register inpatient or outpatient admissions.
• Register patients for services and verify legal name.
• Obtain signatures for consent and insurance forms.
• Explain hospital policies, including Privacy Policy and Financial Assistance.
• Update and verify insurance and demographics.
• Operate telephone console and hospital systems efficiently.
• Understand disaster plans and admit patients accordingly.
• Schedule appointments for ancillary departments.
