Job summary

McPherson Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Admitting Clerk (Onsite) to guide patients through pre-registration, registration, and check-in, collecting accurate demographic and financial information during in person or phone interactions.

The role requires excellent customer service, the ability to verify identity, explain consent forms, manage insurance details, scan documents into the EMR, and support various registration areas to ensure a smooth patient admission process.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with pre-registration, registration, and check-in.
• Capture accurate demographic and financial information through in person, electronic or telephone contact.
• Identify patients and ensure identity; generate wristbands and secure on the patient’s wrist when applicable.
• Explain and obtain signatures for general consent, HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, and other forms.
• Enter and verify insurance information; note insurance status when applicable.
• Scan documents into the EMR and educate admitted patients about their rights.
• Provide clerical PBX support and assist departments as needed; support ER with transportation arrangements.
• Compile and assemble patient visit documentation as required.
