Responsibilities

• Registers patients efficiently and accurately in the registration system.
• Verifies insurance coverage and identifies plan codes for billing.
• Explains legal/financial documents (ABNs) to patients as required.
• Counsels self-pay patients on costs and payment options.
• Secures and logs patient valuables and places identification armbands.
• Reads physician orders to determine registration processes and order entry.
• Notifies departments/physicians of arrivals and follows up on delays.
• Assists with bed assignments and coordinates with nursing staff.
• Operates a multi-line telephone system and relays messages promptly.
• Maintains communication during emergencies and follows facility plans.
