Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is seeking an Admissions Clerk to greet patients and manage registration, transfers, and discharges in a courteous, efficient manner.

You will operate hospital front-desk systems, answer calls, gather signatures, and maintain patient rosters and charts with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires good communication, reliability, and the ability to type 30 words per minute and perform general clerical duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in customer service is preferred.
• Ability to operate office machines and handle payments.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in person or by phone in a courteous manner.
• Handle registration, transfers, and discharge procedures.
• Operate telephone and paging systems and document communications.
• Determine patient's needs and escort to proper area or arrange transportation.
• Maintain a roster of inpatients and admissions/discharges; manage schedules.
• Prepare records relating to admission, payment, and discharge.
• Pull charts, maintain appointment schedules, handle money, and secure hospital keys as required.
• Assist patients with vehicle transfers if needed.
• Operate various office equipment.
• Perform cashier duties; e.g., receipts of payment and issuance of receipts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
