Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital is seeking an Admissions Specialist to register patients, verify insurance, and coordinate payments. The role requires accurate data entry, effective communication with patients and staff, and adherence to HIPAA privacy practices.

Typical shifts are Day Shift, Monday through Friday, with responsibilities including collecting co-payments, pre-certifications, and assisting in bed assignments when needed. PTO and retirement benefits are available.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent is required.
• Preferred Healthcare experience and 1–3 years in billing, insurance or registration.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately by entering demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-certifications/authorizations for accounts.
• Collect co-payments, deductibles and post payments to the system.
• Explain deposits and patient estimator tools; help patients understand benefits.
• Maintain patient relations and ensure HIPAA/privacy practices are followed.
