Job summary

Avera Health is seeking an Admissions Specialist to register patients, verify insurance, and handle financial interactions at the point of admission. You will contribute to accurate account setup, insurance pre-certifications, and patient education about costs and coverage.

This role emphasizes compassionate patient contact, multitasking across registration, financial counseling, and collaboration with care teams to ensure smooth hospital intake processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• 1–3 years in billing, insurance, or registration.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately and timely, establish accounts and MRNs.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-certifications/authorizations.
• Collect co-pays and payments; explain plans and deposits.
• Maintain positive patient relations and ensure privacy practices (HIPAA).
• Coordinate communications with patients, staff, providers, and external agencies.
