Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD seeks an Admissions Specialist to register patients, verify insurance, collect payments, and manage related clerical tasks. You will coordinate with care teams to ensure accurate account creation and documentation.

Qualifications

High School or GED required.
Healthcare experience preferred.
1–3 years experience in billing, insurance or registration preferred.

Responsibilities

Register patients in a timely and accurate manner and establish accounts/medical record numbers.
Verify insurance coverage and collect co-payments/deductibles/out-of-pocket expenses.
Complete insurance verifications, pre-certification, and authorization for assigned accounts.
Maintain positive patient relations and inform patients about HIPAA and privacy practices.
Coordinate internal messages, import CCDS, answer phones promptly and address patient needs.
Assist in bed assignments and monitor registration process efficiency.
