Job Description

The role involves daily billing of insurance claims, collection activities on outstanding payor accounts and self-pay encounters, and managing account receivables. The candidate should have thorough knowledge of third-party carriers, government payors, special programs, and University Health Financial Assistance program. Responsibilities include monitoring and reconciling accounts, ensuring accurate account resolution, and adhering to quality standards set by regulatory and department protocols. The position requires proficiency with electronic systems, customer service skills, and independent critical thinking.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent (experience and education)
  • Two to three years’ experience in hospital, physician’s office, or insurance billing environment
  • Experience with commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid reimbursement
  • Computer literacy, math aptitude, and familiarity with Excel, Word, Outlook, and 10-key calculator
  • Extensive knowledge of third-party billing procedures and acts as a subject matter expert
  • Experience with 837i, HIPAA transactions, ICD/CPT/HCPCS coding, revenue codes, ICD-10, and medical terminology
  • Good oral and written communication skills
