Job summary

Trinity Health in Mason City, IA seeks a full-time patient access representative responsible for registration, insurance verification, and collecting patient liabilities at check-in.

You will interview patients or guarantors, enter data into the patient accounting system, explain benefits, and coordinate with physicians' offices. Day shift Mon-Fri 0830-1700. HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA within 1 year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hospital registration or insurance verification experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic coding & procedural coding required.
• Ability to explain insurance benefits.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Validate/obtain and enter demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information into the patient accounting system by interviewing the patient, family, or guarantor.
• Perform registration tasks in diverse settings for multiple patient types (Inpatients, Outpatients, Ambulatory Surgery, ED, Lab, etc.).
• Prepare patient estimates, inform patients of liabilities, and collect co-pays, co-insurances, deductibles, deposits, and balances at check-in; document payments in the system and provide receipts.
• Obtain signed physician orders for tests and procedures.
• Prepare identification bracelets and patient ID labels; obtain signatures on forms and secure valuables with authorization if needed.
