Job summary

Kettering Health is hiring for a Patient Access - Patient Registration I role on the First Shift. You will accurately register patients, verify insurance, and collect necessary consent and signatures for treatment and billing.

This position acts as the first point of contact, delivering excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with policies. Prior healthcare admin experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in a healthcare administrative or customer service role.
• Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.
• Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic understanding of insurance and healthcare processes.
• HIPAA regulations familiarity and confidentiality.
• Customer service orientation with problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collect and enter patient demographics, insurance, and contact details into the EHR.
• Verify patient identity and insurance eligibility to prevent duplicates.
• Obtain consents and signatures for treatment and billing purposes.
• Explain financial responsibilities, co-pays, and payment options; collect payments as applicable.
• Greet patients and visitors; provide directions and assistance within the facility.
• Schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments in alignment with provider availability.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA, OSHA, and policies.
• Collaborate with clinical and admin staff to support patient flow and resolve issues.
• Address incomplete or inaccurate registrations; follow up with patients/payors as needed.
• Participate in required training to stay current with regulations and technology.
