Qualifications

• Mature judgement in dealings with patients, physicians, and insurers.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft programs; familiarity with database programs.
• Able to operate office machines (computer, fax, printer, scanner).
• Ability to learn multiple tasks and organize work efficiently.
• Professional written and verbal communication.
• Adapt in changing healthcare environment.
• Follow complex instructions with attention to detail.
• HIPAA privacy rules and confidentiality.
• Experience in customer service.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Advanced understanding of insurance knowledge and benefits.
• EMR system proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Performs Medicare compliance reviews and issues ABNs as needed.
• Creates accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collects payments or arrange plans.
• Coordinates with utilization management for pre-authorization issues.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, and secures pre-authorizations.
• Registers patients for all services, ensuring data accuracy.
• Provides excellent customer service and documents conversations.
• Attends department meetings and supports team communication.
• Provides coverage for PBX and performs cashiering duties as needed.
