Job summary

UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Bel Air, MD is seeking a Patient Access Representative I, PRN to join the Patient Access/Administrative Services team. The role performs scheduling, registration, pre-admission processing, wayfinding, and data entry in Epic with attention to patient needs and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include verifying insurance benefits, obtaining pre-certifications, providing cost estimates, guiding patients to clinics, and assisting with admissions paperwork,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of clerical or receptionist experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Certification and memberships to local organizations such as AAHAM, NAHAM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in Patient Access/Patient Administrative Services with a focus on customer service.
• Collects and verifies patient and insurance demographics; reviews benefits in Epic and provides cost estimates.
• Secures pre-certifications/pre-notifications for services; collects co-pays and deposits; explains financial assistance options.
• Provides wayfinding to clinics and assists with registration paperwork to ensure accurate and timely reporting and billing.
• Maintains knowledge of registration requirements and communicates procedures to patients; coordinates with Care Management and Social Work for reimbursement.
