Job summary

Western Reserve Careers is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our Hudson, OH team. This full-time role handles registration, scheduling, eligibility verification, and pre-authorization to ensure accurate patient accounts and smooth reimbursement.

You will collect copays, verify insurance benefits, input data into scheduling systems, and support patients through the registration process in a hospital or medical office setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of customer service experience, including healthcare registration/insurance processing, are required.
• Working knowledge of computerized appointment scheduling system and insurance processing is required.

Responsibilities

• Register and pre-register patients; schedule and reschedule procedures.
• Verify eligibility and obtain/verify prior authorizations for services.
• Verify demographics and input data accurately into registration/scheduling systems; document thoroughly to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials.
• Collect copayments and self-pay amounts at the point of service or during scheduling/pre-registration.

Performs registration, pre-registration, scheduling and rescheduling procedures. Verifies eligibility and obtains or verifies prior authorization was obtained for service(s). Verifies patient’s demographics and accurately inputs the information into the registration and/or scheduling application(s), including documenting the account thoroughly in order to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials/penalties from the payor(s). Verifies and understands insurance benefits. Performs point of service activities collecting copayments and self pay payments, in some instances will request copayments at the time of scheduling or pre-registration.

• o Registration, Insurance Verification/Pre-Certification, Financial counseling, and/or Patient account experience, preferably in a hospital or medical office is preferred.
