Job summary

Western Reserve Hospital in Hudson, OH is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to perform registration, pre-registration, scheduling and related tasks in a fast-paced, on-site environment.

You will verify insurance eligibility, obtain prior authorizations when needed, confirm patient demographics, and enter data into scheduling systems while documenting accurately to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Minimum two years customer service experience with healthcare registration/insurance processing.
• Experience with scheduling systems and insurance pre-certification/benefit verification.

Description

Performs registration, pre-registration, scheduling and rescheduling procedures. Verifies eligibility and obtains or verifies prior authorization was obtained for service(s). Verifies patient’s demographics and accurately inputs the information into the registration and/or scheduling application(s), including documenting the account thoroughly in order to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials/penalties from the payor(s). Verifies and understands insurance benefits. Performs point of service activities collecting copayments and self pay payments, in some instances will request copayments at the time of scheduling or pre-registration.

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Monday - Friday; 7:30-4pm

Experience

Minimum of two years customer service experience to have included at least one year healthcare registration and/or insurance processing.o Working knowledge of computerized appointment scheduling system and insurance processing to include preauthorization and benefit verification required. o Registration, Insurance Verification/Pre-Certification, Financial counseling, and/or Patient account experience, preferably in a hospital or medical office is preferred.
