Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative at RWJ Somerset to provide compassionate, patient-centered service during registration. You will collect demographics, verify insurance, obtain payments, and ensure accurate documentation for the patient’s first contact with our facility.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong customer service experience, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Service-oriented background (customer service or retail).
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Must be able to type accurately.

Responsibilities

• Register patients at admissions/registration.
• Verify insurance and collect applicable payments.
• Obtain required forms, signatures, and IDs for guaranteed payment/benefits.
• Provide patient-friendly information and answer questions during the registration process.
• Explain state and federal regulations related to Medicare Charity Care and Advance Directives.
• Log and file patient admission paperwork and assign patient IDs.
• Assist in new employee training and respond to questions from coworkers.
