Job summary

Optum is hiring for a Patient Access Representative Associate in Fridley, MN. You will greet patients, collect demographics and insurance data, and guide them through the registration process in the electronic medical record system.

Responsibilities include checking in patients, collecting payments, verifying insurance, and assisting with financial aid applications. Per Diem shifts, 24/7 coverage, and a $750 sign-on bonus for external applicants are offered.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service experience in an office/hospital setting.
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work on a Per Diem basis under a variety of different shift times, supporting a 24/7 operation.
• Ability to attend 3 weeks of training within standard daytime hours upon hire.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patient in person.
• Collects demographic and insurance information.
• Checks in and interviews patient to complete appropriate paperwork.
• Directs patient to their appointment or procedure.
• May assist in scheduling add-on appointments.
• Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record.
• Resolve claim issues or registration errors on patient accounts.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results focusing on complex billing situations.
• Obtains cost information and explains information to patient if necessary.
• Collects co-pay or deductibles and respond to questions regarding financial assistance programs available.
