Job summary

Ashtabula Regional Medical Center in Ashtabula, OH is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for Central Registration.

Under the Central Registration Manager you will greet patients, answer phones, check‑in/out, register and schedule appointments, and verify demographic and insurance information.

Qualifications

• Completion of High School or GED; excellent written and verbal communication.
• Medical terminology experience preferred.
• Basic PC software knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems.
• Extensive knowledge of billing and insurance preferred.
• Keyboarding skills essential (40 WPM).
• One year customer service experience dealing with the public.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, greet patients, arriving, checking-in/out, registering, scheduling and confirming appointments.
• Ensure accuracy of demographic, insurance and financial information through interviews and verification.
• Provide general clerical support including filing, scanning, faxing and prepping forms.
• Enter diagnosis, procedure and physician information; communicate with insurance companies.
• Uses online systems to verify information and expedite payment; collect co-pays and deductibles.
