Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative. The role greets patients, registers them for services, verifies insurance and collects payments.

You will also enter charges, admit/discharge patients and coordinate bed assignments in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. We value strong communication, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent Required
• Healthcare experience preferred
• Experience in collection and/or insurance verification preferred
• Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Must pass pre-hire exams; Math, grammar/vocabulary & customer service with 80%+

Responsabilités

• Greets patients in polite, prompt and helpful manner.
• Register patients in computer system for inpatients/outpatients.
• Prepare and provide patient ID bands for admissions and services.
• Explain and collect required forms and notices, update patient information.
• Determine and collect payments due from patients for deductibles, co-pays and balances.
• Enter charges and diagnosis on Outpatient accounts.
• Admit, transfer and discharge patients in Allscripts system.
• Coordinate with units for admissions/ transfers and bed assignments.
• Maintain Bed Board Census and handle referrals.
• Promote safety and HIPAA/compliance in daily tasks.
