Job summary

Heywood Healthcare Inc. seeks a Per Diem Patient Registration Specialist to register patients and schedule them across ER, Admitting, and the Scheduling Office. The role includes coverage for the switchboard and ensuring valid authorizations for patient flow.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication, accuracy, and multitasking abilities, plus familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems. Weekend and on-call coverage may apply.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Formal training beyond High School diploma preferred.
• Medical terminology, spelling competence and computer experience essential.
• Referral and/or third party experience billing preferable.
• Knowledge of Meditech.

Responsibilities

• Initiates patient registration with demographics and insurance details.
• Verifies patient signatures for records.
• Contacts insurers to verify eligibility and benefits within 24 hours of admission.
• Collaborates with care team to assign beds and notify ED/physicians.
• Maintains up-to-date registration policies and provides coverage during breaks.
• Inputs and scans insurance authorizations; maintains data accuracy.
