Job summary

In this role you will enter accurate information, explain forms to patients, collect demographic and insurance data, and provide compassionate, professional service to patients and families while maintaining compliance with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years of experience in a hospital or customer service setting.
• Ability to multi-task and type proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient appointments and enters required information in the computer system accurately.
• Obtains demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or guarantor and records it accurately.
• Explains all required forms to the patient or guarantor and obtains signatures.
• Ensures medical necessity and compliance by collecting necessary data and requesting verifications.
• Collects patient liability, discusses payment options and screens for eligibility to protect facility finances.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and confirms necessary notifications/authorizations.
• Posts payments in the system and issues patient receipts.
• Maintains professional communication with physicians, departments, staff, insurers and patients, with thorough documentation.
• Adheres to Memorial Hermann policies and budgetary constraints while maintaining safety and service quality.
• Supports ongoing staff development and acts as a resource to colleagues.
