Job summary

Memorial Hermann is seeking a Hospital Patient Access professional to schedule patient appointments, verify eligibility, and post payments. You will collect demographics, insurance details, and necessary signatures while ensuring medical necessity compliance.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Two (2) years in a hospital or customer service setting.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient appointments and enters required information in the computer system accurately.
• Obtains demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or guarantor and enters data with high accuracy.
• Explains all required forms to the patient or guarantor and obtains signatures.
• Ensures medical necessity compliance by obtaining data, reviewing the Compliance System and obtaining signatures.
• Protects the facility's financial integrity by collecting patient liability and setting up payment arrangements.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and ensures notifications/authorizations are completed timely.
• Posts payments and generates patient receipts.
• Monitors and resolves patient account issues on assigned reports.
• Communicates professionally with physicians, departments, staff, insurers, patients and families; completes documentation.
• Ensures safe care and adheres to Memorial Hermann policies within budget and time constraints.
• Supports professional growth and serves as mentor to less experienced staff.
• Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized experiences for all community members.
• Other duties as assigned.
