Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Typing skills of 45+ WPM.
• Previous clerical experience.
• Great customer services skills.
• Previous medical support services experience.
• Must be self-motivated and able to follow hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Schedule diagnostic imaging, outpatient procedures, and other services per protocols.
• Contact patients to schedule appointments and provide prep instructions.
• Verify orders have necessary information for scheduling.
• Review scheduling queues, waitlists, and outstanding appointments.
• Communicate with patients, providers, and departments to resolve questions.
• Document scheduling activity in applicable systems.
• Assist with scheduling backlogs and high-volume periods.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for services.
• Review payer requirements for prior authorization or referrals.
• Submit required documentation to obtain authorization from payers.
• Monitor authorization status and follow up on requests.
• Document authorization activity and reference numbers.
