Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a customer service role or completion of UH Patient Access Rep/Patient Scheduler Apprentice Program.
• Excellent communication to interview patients and families and coordinate with staff and payors.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Proficient with computer hardware and software.
• Preferred: experience with hospital, business or insurance office customers.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and familiarity with insurance.
• College coursework mentioned.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with scheduling, pre-registration, front desk management, check-in and check-out.
• Maintain accurate demographic and financial information in the system.
• Verify information through patient materials or online verification.
• Explain health benefits and the organization’s Discount Policy and financial obligations to patients.
• Answer all calls and manage the clinic schedule effectively.
