Job summary

Qualifications

• One year experience in hospital or financial settings OR three years of total customer-facing experience.
• None stated; high school diploma or GED equivalent acceptable; Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field.
• Ability to verify insurance benefits and process pre-certifications.
• Strong data entry and knowledge of scheduling or medical information systems.

Responsibilities

• Collect co-payments/deposits, generate receipts, and post to patient accounts.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
• Notify Financial Counselor for self-pay, workers’ comp, or non-covered procedures.
• Update patient type based on Medical Records/Care Coordinators and document changes.
• Schedule operative/diagnostic procedures and note special resources needed.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain pre-certifications from payers.
• Gather demographic, medical, and financial data for registration and verification.
• Collaborate with care management to improve cash flow and collections.
• Explain required information to patients and families about consent, deposits, and policies.
