Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time patient registration specialist to pre-register patients for admission and outpatient services. The role involves verifying insurance, obtaining necessary authorizations, and coordinating with scheduling to accommodate procedures and deposits.

The schedule is varied, and compensation aligns with a $22.00 per hour pay range. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication and customer service

Qualifications

• Accurate spelling and attention to detail required.
• Must be able to key 40 wpm.
• Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Registers or pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for all services that require authorization, pre-certification, and/or referral.
• Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged.
• Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
