Job summary

Mercyhealth Wisconsin and Illinois is seeking an experienced Patient Access Coordinator to manage pre-registration, referrals, and scheduling across Mercyhealth facilities. You will handle calls, registrations, and coordination with providers and payers to ensure accurate and timely patient access.

The role requires strong customer service, communication, and multi-tasking abilities, with familiarity in EPIC and revenue cycle processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or physicians' office experience required.
• Two years of customer service experience preferred.
• Excellent oral communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all scheduled visits are pre-registered and appropriately certified/authorized before service date.
• Initiates and documents referrals/authorizations/pre-certifications in systems.
• Answers calls, schedules appointments, and routes inquiries to appropriate departments.
• Registers patients via phone lines and Mercy systems, ensuring payment readiness.
• Manages waitlists, rescheduling, and cancellations.
• Documents activity in EMR or patient accounting systems.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Two years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or physicians' office experience

Two years of customer service experience

Excellent oral communication skills

Organizational skills

Ability to multi-task

Able to work independently
