Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Louisiana is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to register patients, collect co-pays, and manage scheduling. The role requires strong customer-service skills and attention to insurance verification and authorization requirements.

You will work closely with clinical staff and the access team to ensure smooth patient flow and timely, accurate financial and administrative processes. A minimum 3 years in a medical office is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a medical office.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits, authorization processes and contracting.
• ICD-9/10 and CPT coding a plus.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid and private-payer practices/regulations.

Responsibilities

• Reception of patients, collect co-pays and handle phone calls.
• Schedule appointments including follow-ups and diagnostics.
• Pre-registration and registration verification of demographics and insurance; collect payments.
• Advise patients about financial assistance programs and direct to the navigator as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
