Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is seeking a motivated Registration and Scheduling Clerk to register patients, schedule visits and coordinate authorizations. You will handle pre-registration, verify demographics and insurance, and collect payments at point of service.

The role also involves guiding patients to financial assistance programs and collaborating with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate authorizations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in medical office.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits, authorization process and contracting.
• Must be able to work independently, possess strong organizational and communication skills and to adhere to established goals and deadlines.
• ICD-9/10 and CPT coding a plus.
• Medicare, Medicaid and private-payer practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Reception of patients, collecting co-pay and deductibles due at time of service and verify authorization.
• Scheduling appointments including follow-ups, diagnostics, treatments, and patient access; coordinating with outside physicians; ensure authorization before services.
• Pre-Registration and registration of patients; verify demographics and insurance; collect payment at time of service; communicate with clinical staff to ensure authorizations aren’t missed.
• Act as patient financial counselor and advise on available programs; direct patients to appropriate party for assistance.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
