Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Patient Access Representative at the Columbus City clinic. You will greet patients, verify insurance, register patients, schedule appointments, collect payments, and support efficient clinic operations with friendly service.

Requirements include a high school diploma and 3–6 months of related experience; a 1-year college certificate is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus, and you will work in a fast-paced, HIPAA-compliant environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Register patients accurately and efficiently, verifying demographic and insurance information.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments using the clinic’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Ensure required patient forms are completed and signed, including Sliding Fee applications.
  • Scan patient registration forms into the system.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances; provide receipts and maintain records.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist patients with completing necessary forms and documentation.
  • Complete Medicaid verifications for applicable next-day appointments.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Monitor waiting area for a clean and organized environment.
  • Manage Medicaid, Medicare, and MCO attribution lists to schedule with a primary care provider.
  • Perform end-of-day procedures prior to departure.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent
Certificate from college or technical school (1 year)
