Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a patient access professional to schedule diagnostic, surgical, therapy, and physician visits, while collecting demographic and insurance data in the scheduling system. The role operates in a call-center like setting and emphasizes service excellence.

The incumbent will support patients and families with professional, compassionate service, adhering to regulatory guidelines and contributing to high-quality care across our network.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of Patient Access training.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented with strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines (HIPAA, EMTALA, Medicare) is preferred.
  • Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient appointments across diagnostic, surgical, therapy, and physician visits.
  • Obtain and verify demographic and insurance information.
  • Register patients and enter data into scheduling system.
  • Work in a call center type environment and meet quality metrics.

Description

The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments (diagnostic, surgical, therapy, physician office visits, and other procedures/treatments). Obtains and verifies necessary demographic and insurance information. Registers patients and enters data into scheduling system. This position requires the incumbent to be in a call center type environment and responsible for meeting individual quality metrics. Practices the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members.

Estimated pay range for this position is $17.27 - $21.93 / hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

Degrees:

  • High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper.
Additional Qualifications
  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Desired: Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
  • Experience with computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, knowledge of EMR applications, etc.) and accurate typing skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines.
  • Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole preferred.
