Job description

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for checking patients in for appointments and accurately verifying demographics.
  • Ensures all check-in procedures are completed, monitors patient wait times, and communicates changes to patients as necessary.
  • Reads and interprets insurance responses.
  • Understands general guidelines and insurance rank requirements to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
  • Ensures patients receive necessary disclosures and privacy information, and obtains necessary legal and financial signatures.
  • Communicates financial obligations to patients and collects fees at the time of service as appropriate.
  • Communicates the purpose of and completes all necessary regulatory forms with patients.
  • Completes patient visits by scheduling follow-up appointments, including any specialty or ancillary services.
  • Processes multi-channel messages related to patient and/or physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
  • Notifies patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibilities, including copays, deductibles, or coinsurances, and collects payments accordingly.
  • Performs cash posting following department guidelines.
  • Adheres to organizational and HIPAA guidelines, maintaining patient confidentiality and rights.
  • Works independently on work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
  • Maintains productivity and quality performance standards.
  • Maintains a high regard for confidentiality.
  • Performs accurate medical record maintenance and releases.
  • Assists with referrals and pre-certifications during encounters.
  • Utilizes and maintains patient recall and reschedule lists appropriately.
Work Environment & Position Details:

Work is typically performed in an office environment. The position requires satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies and procedures. The specific statements are not all-inclusive but represent typical elements necessary for successful performance.

Position Details: The scheduled work hours are 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, including weekends.
